Basketball Recap: Skidmore-Tynan Comes Up Short

Skidmore-Tynan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the George West Longhorns 55-20. The Bobcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-12.

Tristen Blevins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for George West, almost dropping a double-double on 24 points and nine steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Blevins has scored at least a third of George West's points. Another player making a difference was William Balew, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Skidmore-Tynan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for George West, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Goliad the next time they take the court. George West will host Goliad at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Skidmore-Tynan will host them at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
