Baseball Recap: Chilton Comes Up Short

Chilton had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-8-1 to make it four. They came up short against the Two Rivers Raiders, falling 12-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Chilton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Wagner, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Two Rivers, their record now sits at 4-6. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.

On Two Rivers' side, Noah Shillcox was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Shillcox has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Derek Klinkner and Kole Klein did most of the damage at the plate: Klinkner got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Klein went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Klein a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Odin Clem, who went 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

Coming up, Chilton will be playing at home against Howards Grove at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Howards Grove has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.93 runs per game on average), something Chilton will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Two Rivers, they will head out to face off against Roncalli at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
