Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Addison Komitau and Callie Swanson

Mt. Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Utica Redskins. The Yellowjackets were not able to make up for their loss to the Redskins from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-12, 18-25, 25-11, 25-16.

Mt. Vernon's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Callie Swanson, who had 17 assists and three digs, and Addison Komitau, who had 21 assists and eight digs. Swanson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

Utica was led to victory by Callie Baker and Megan Hartley. Baker had 18 digs, while Hartley had 11 digs. That's the most digs Baker has posted since back in August of 2024.

Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Utica, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Mt. Vernon has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Zanesville on the 2nd. As for Utica, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 defeat against Newark Catholic on the 2nd.
