Volleyball Recap: Holy Name Takes a Loss

Holy Name lost against Padua Franciscan back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Green Wave came up short against the Bruins, falling 3-0. The Green Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-21, 25-21.

Allison Orzech paced Holy Name's offense, picking up 11 kills. Orzech got some help from Avery Preisel and her 23 assists. Preisel also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Kenzi Watson, each putting up two.

Padua Franciscan got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Giulia Reginelli out in front who had nine digs and three assists.

Holy Name's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Padua Franciscan, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Holy Name and Padua Franciscan should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Green Wave will square off against Struthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (220 vs. 580). Meanwhile, Padua Franciscan (ranked 33rd) will meet Chaney (ranked 796th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
