Baseball Recap: Pine Crest Has No Trouble Against Monarch

Pine Crest not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since February 12th. They were the clear victor by a 14-2 margin over the Monarch Knights. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 7-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Stephen Deleon looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

At the plate, Stephen Gladding was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Cooper Obst was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Pine Crest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Pine Crest's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Monarch, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Crest will face off against Calvary Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Crest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Monarch, they will welcome Pompano Beach at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monarch has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
