Newton Local had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Troy Christian on Wednesday. The Indians' pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Indians have won four games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Newton Local has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Troy Christian, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-11.
