Softball Recap: South Fork Wins Going Away Against St. Bernard's

South Fork hadn't beaten St. Bernard on the road since May 4, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Cubs were the clear victors by a 22-6 margin over the Crusaders. The result was nothing new for the Cubs, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Calleigh Smith was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenzie Brewer, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

South Fork kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive games.

South Fork's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for St. Bernard's, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-6.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. South Fork will challenge rival Ferndale at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, St. Bernard's is set to square off against their familiar foe Hoopa Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
