Baseball Game Preview: Big Sandy Wildcats vs. Alba-Golden Panthers

For the second straight game, Big Sandy will face off against Alba-Golden. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Big Sandy has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Alba-Golden will arrive with three straight wins.

It was a proper cat-fight when Big Sandy duked it out with Alba-Golden on Tuesday. The Wildcats came up short against the Panthers, falling 15-1.

For Alba-Golden's part, Tucker Samples made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Samples was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Cason Boyd was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Boogie Trimble was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Alba-Golden hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Alba-Golden's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Big Sandy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
