Preview: Eastside Ghosts vs. Hackensack Comets
The Eastside Ghosts will head out on the road to square off against the Hackensack Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eastside has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
Last Monday, Eastside escaped with a win against Bayonne by the margin of a single free throw, 45-44.
Hackensack suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Ramapo, falling 71-43. While losing is never fun, Hackensack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Ramapo is ranked 32nd).
Eastside pushed their record up to 7-5 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.4 points. As for Hackensack, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Everything came up roses for Eastside against Hackensack when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 86-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eastside since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
