Softball Recap: Iowa-Grant Has No Trouble Against Southwestern

Iowa-Grant had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Southwestern on Thursday. The Panthers blew past the Wildcats 12-2. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Lakyn Holman made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Holman was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Pajessa Baker was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Quinn Hoeper, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Iowa-Grant's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Southwestern, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Iowa-Grant will venture away from home to challenge Barneveld at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southwestern, they will head out to face off against Riverdale at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
