Basketball Game Preview: El Dorado Golden Hawks vs. Villa Park Spartans

El Dorado is 0-10 against Villa Park since January of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The El Dorado Golden Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Villa Park Spartans at 8:00 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Caleb Hendrix and Tristan Griffin.

Last Friday, El Dorado was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-45 to Yorba Linda.

Meanwhile, Villa Park didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sonora on Friday, but they still walked away with a 62-58 victory. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Raiders are ranked 619th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Villa Park's record now sits at 13-8. As for El Dorado, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5.

El Dorado couldn't quite finish off Villa Park when the teams last played back in January of 2024 and fell 50-47. Can El Dorado avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
