Somers hadn't done well against Lakeland recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Tuskers won by a run and slipped past the Hornets 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tuskers have posted since April 8th.

Emily Boyle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on one hit and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaleigh Conti, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Somers' victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Lakeland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Somers wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Tappan Zee on the 13th. Lakeland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
