Baseball Recap: Russell County Starts Season with Win at Home

Russell County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They skirted past the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats 6-4. For the Lakers, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2022.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Russell County will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Adair County at 5:00 p.m. on March 18th. As for Franklin-Simpson, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Franklin-Simpson Wildcats duke it out with Taylor County Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
