Basketball Recap: Seaside Comes Up Short

If Seaside was feeling good fresh off their 59-22 takedown of Gladstone last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Seaside Seagulls took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marist Spartans on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Seagulls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Spartans are ranked 49th).

Seaside has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Marist, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seaside will face off against North Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marist, they will challenge Cascade at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cascade will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Marist surely won't give up without a fight.
