Baseball Recap: Roy Royals vs. Jordan Beetdiggers
Roy and Jordan squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Roy had to settle for second. They lost 12-2 to the Beetdiggers. The Royals just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.
Roy got a good showing from Jace Barela, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Barela has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, James Cochran was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Logan Vorwaller also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Roy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Jordan, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season.
