Football Recap: William Donato Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lower Richland + How To Watch

With a playoff win on the line, Bishop England rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 24-7 victory over the Lower Richland Diamond Hornets. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Battling Bishops.

Bishop England got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was William Donato out in front who threw for 188 yards and one TD on only 14 passes, and also rushed for 46 yards. Those 188 passing yards gave Donato a new career-high. Brody Tonon was another key player, picking up 128 receiving yards and one touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bishop England's defense and their nine sacks. Matthew Ponkow and Jackson Kunz were the leaders of the group effort as each produced 2.5 apiece. Another thorn in Lower Richland's side was Hunter Alex, who made 15 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Bishop England's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Lower Richland, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.

Bishop England wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 43-0 defeat against South Florence on the 14th. Lower Richland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
