Football Game Preview: Fowler Grizzlies vs. Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds

Fowler is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will venture away from home to take on the Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. Fowler has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Sangre de Cristo will come in with three straight victories.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 50-18, which was the final score in Fowler's tilt against Sanford last Friday. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Mustangs are ranked ninth).

Although Fowler took the loss, they still got scores from Demetrius Alvarez, Brock True, and Garrett Pharr.

Meanwhile, Sangre de Cristo took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-14 win over Walsenburg. The Thunderbirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Sangre de Cristo's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Fowler, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Everything came up roses for Fowler against Sangre de Cristo when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 54-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
