Basketball Recap: Groveton Indians vs. Centerville Tigers
Groveton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 58-19 loss at the hands of the Centerville Tigers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 84-24 back in December of 2024.
Groveton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Josiah Allen, who posted seven points and six rebounds, and Everett Snyder, who scored a point.
Centerville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ty Chrisman led the charge by putting up ten points and six steals. Those six steals gave Chrisman a new career-high. Trae Phillips was another key player, posting five points in addition to 11 boards and seven steals.
Groveton's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Centerville, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.
Groveton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-23 defeat against Leon on the 28th. As for Centerville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-27 loss against Grapeland on the 28th.
