Baseball Recap: East Central Find Success

East Central proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 11) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Hinckley-Finlayson Jaguars 9-7. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 16-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Xavior LeTexier and Reace Youngberg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, LeTexier tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Youngberg pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, LeTexier scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Youngberg went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gradyn Swenson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

East Central's record is now 2-0. As for Hinckley-Finlayson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Central will host McGregor at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hinckley-Finlayson, they will be playing at home against Ogilvie at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
