Volleyball Recap: Athens Drive Starts Season with Victory Against Cary

Athens Drive gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Cary Imps 3-2. The win was nothing new for the Jaguars as they're now sitting on four straight dating back to last season.

Athens Drive wouldn't go down easily and took Cary into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 27-25, 25-27, 23-25, 15-11.

Holden Carroll had a dynamite game, getting 25 digs. Those 25 digs gave her a new career-high.

Athens Drive was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Coming up, Athens Drive will venture away from home to challenge Willow Spring at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cary, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on East Wake at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
