Preview: Lely Trojans vs. Fort Myers Green Wave
The Lely Trojans the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Fort Myers Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Lely knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Fort Myers likes a good challenge.
Even though Community School of Naples scored an imposing 65 points on Tuesday, Lely still came out on top. Lely managed a 69-65 win over Community School of Naples.
Fort Myers suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Palmetto Ridge by a score of 50-48. While losing is never fun, Fort Myers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Palmetto Ridge is ranked 84th).
Lely's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Fort Myers, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8.
Lely didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Fort Myers in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 40-35 victory. Will Lely repeat their success, or does Fort Myers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
