Soccer Recap: West Mecklenburg Starts Season with Defeat at Home

West Mecklenburg unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-pitch advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Berry Cardinals on Monday, falling 4-1. If the Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 4-0 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in March of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Berry's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

West Mecklenburg will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Chambers at 6:00 p.m. on March 13th. As for Berry, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Garinger on the 4th.
