Baseball Recap: Tavares Comes Up Short

After flying high against Leesburg last Wednesday, Tavares came back down to earth. The Tavares Bulldogs lost 11-1 to the Lake Minneola Hawks on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 last Tuesday.

Jamarcus Pugh was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Tavares has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. The win (which was Lake Minneola's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tavares will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Foundation Academy at 7:00 p.m. on March 17th. As for Lake Minneola, they will be playing in front of their home fans against IMG Academy Gray at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
