Baseball Game Preview: Carroll County Cavaliers vs. Patrick County Cougars

The Carroll County Cavaliers will venture away from home to face off against the Patrick County Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Carroll County sitting on six straight wins and Patrick County on nine.

Carroll County gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Floyd County 12-2. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Tuesday. Patrick County had just enough and edged out Alleghany 6-5. That's two games straight that Patrick County has won by just one run.

Patrick County pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Carroll County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2.

Carroll County might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Patrick County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
