Preview: Lakeview Gators vs. Winnfield Tigers
The Lakeview Gators will be playing in front of their home fans against the Winnfield Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lakeview entered their tilt with Mansfield with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Lakeview simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Mansfield 75-42 at home. Given Lakeview's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Mansfield is ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Winnfield took their contest at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 76-40 win over Jonesboro-Hodge. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Winnfield.
Decavian Duncan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 37 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaylon Jackson, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Lakeview is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. As for Winnfield, their victory bumped their record up to 16-8.
Lakeview strolled past Winnfield in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 71-56. Will Lakeview repeat their success, or does Winnfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
