Basketball Recap: Aubrey Comes Up Short

Aubrey lost against Lake Dallas back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Aubrey Chaparrals took a blow against the Lake Dallas Falcons, falling 42-15. While losing is never fun, the Chaparrals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1008th, while the Falcons are ranked 331st).

Margaret Conley was Aubrey's leading scorer, having posted four points. Abby Buxton held things down on the boards with six rebounds. Paris Butler took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

It was another big night for Maizen Gillam, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points and six boards for Lake Dallas. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Gillam has scored at least a third of Lake Dallas' points. Another player making a difference was Presley Scott, who posted five points and six assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Aubrey and nudges their season record down to 5-17. As for Lake Dallas, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Aubrey has already played their next matchup (against Gainesville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lake Dallas has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Panther Creek.
