Soccer Game Preview: Clarke Central vs. Athens Academy

The Clarke Central Gladiators will look to take advantage of their home pitch for the first time this season as they take on the Athens Academy Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Clarke Central is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against South Gwinnett. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Clarke Central who was credited with the victory on Monday. Clarke Central got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to South Gwinnett's four.

Athens Academy fell victim to Jackson County and their airtight defense on Friday. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 1-0.

Clarke Central took their win against Athens Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1. Will Clarke Central repeat their success, or does Athens Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
