Waggener waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Presentation Toppers with a sharp 15-8 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won 13 matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mackenzie Sweasy was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.
In other batting news, Kemariyeh Gregory was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Pettit, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Waggener's win bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Presentation, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Coming up, Waggener will head out on the road to challenge Atherton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Presentation, they will welcome Western at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
