Softball Game Preview: Londonderry Lancers vs. Timberlane Owls

The Londonderry Lancers will take on the Timberlane Owls at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Londonderry is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Londonderry's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Portsmouth 2-0.

Not much got past Elizabeth Kearney, who gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks to keep Portsmouth off the board. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Kearney.

At the plate, Londonderry's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sadie Moore, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Winnacunnet hit Timberlane with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Owls fell 9-5 to the Warriors. The loss was the Owls' first of the season.

Lilly Grosky made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. Audrina Cordeiro was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Timberlane fell to 3-1. As for Londonderry, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0-1.

Timberlane's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Londonderry has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Timberlane, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Londonderry's sizable advantage in that area, the Owls will need to find a way to close that gap.

Londonderry came out on top in a nail-biter against Timberlane when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Owls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
