Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Notre Dame entered their game against Trimble on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Notre Dame Titans fell to the Trimble Tomcats 42-36. The Titans were not able to make up for their loss to the Tomcats from their previous meeting back in December of 2021.

Several Titans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laney Strickland, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 10 points and eight rebounds. Strickland is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Lauryn Trinidad was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Notre Dame smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Mckenzie Eing was her usual excellent self, going 11 of 17 on her way to 24 points for Trimble. That's the most points Eing has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rilynn Fouts, who posted 13 points.

Notre Dame's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2. As for Trimble, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Notre Dame wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-26 loss against Russell on the 4th. As for Trimble, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Meigs at 6:30 p.m. Trimble is facing Meigs at the right time seeing as Meigs is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
