Football Recap: Copper Hills Grizzlies vs. Corner Canyon Chargers

Copper Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against the Corner Canyon Chargers, falling 49-14. While losing is never fun, the Grizzlies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah football rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Chargers are ranked second).

Maverick Bowles and Logan Batt certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Bowles threw for 236 yards and a touchdown, while Batt picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown. A healthy portion of that aerial production (83 yards to be exact) also went to Noah Haroldsen.

Copper Hills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Harrison Hudson and Kelemete Faasootauloa. Faasootauloa is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in the last six games he's played dating back to last season.

Chryshaun Lee continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Corner Canyon, picking up 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Lee's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards. Bronson Evans was another key player, throwing for 282 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes.

Copper Hills' loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Corner Canyon, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Copper Hills wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 36-25 defeat against Herriman on the 11th. Corner Canyon has also already played their next contest, a 37-21 victory against Bingham on the 11th.
