The Payton College Prep Grizzlies are taking a road trip to take on the Northside Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Payton College Prep's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
On Monday, Payton College Prep was able to grind out a solid win over Trinity, taking the game 12-7.
Johannah Kimbler was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Evelyn Suss was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Saya Tanabe, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Payton College Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Northside lost 12-6 to De La Salle on Thursday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Payton Phoxay made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Elizabeth Patras was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Payton College Prep is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Northside, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.
Northside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Payton College Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. It's a different story for Northside, though, as they've only averaged .251. Will they be able to contain Payton College Prep's hitters?
Payton College Prep couldn't quite get it done against Northside in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can the Grizzlies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
