Softball Recap: Capitan Tigers vs. Tucumcari Rattlers
Capitan won against Mescalero Apache on Tuesday with 21 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Tigers beat the Tucumcari Rattlers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 21-1. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Kailei Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kaylynn Dominguez was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Reyanne Harris was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
Capitan hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tucumcari struck out eight times.
