Softball Game Preview: West Ranch Wildcats vs. Olympian Eagles

The West Ranch Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Olympian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

West Ranch heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Saturday. They fell just short of St. Bonaventure by a score of 8-7. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

TORREY PRICE made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Meanwhile, Olympian came tearing into Saturday's match with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Southwest EC with a sharp 7-0 win.

Southwest EC's batters probably weren't too happy with Alexandra Perez, who pitched a no hitter (she gave up two walks). Perez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacqui De Murguia, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May. Kailynn Robeson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Olympian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive contests.

West Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 17-15. As for Olympian, their record is now 19-12-1.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Ranch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. However, it's not like Olympian struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
