Football Recap: Okeechobee Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Okeechobee owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They put the hurt on the Bayside Bears with a sharp 22-0 win. The Brahmans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 21 points or more this season.

Among those leading the charge was Chris Evans, who rushed for 79 yards and one score. Those 79 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Okeechobee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 67 rushing yards per game earlier this season, but in their last five games they've averaged 263.7.

Okeechobee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nathan Pfennig and Fred Hill. Pfennig is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least six every time he's taken the field this season. John Immerfall was another major factor on D, picking up 2.5 sacks and making six total tackles.

Okeechobee's victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5. As for Bayside, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coming up, Okeechobee will head out to challenge Jensen Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' defense has only allowed 10.1 points per game this season, so the Brahmans' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bayside, they will be playing at home against Cocoa Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will be up against the Minutemen's rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.11 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
