Basketball Game Preview: Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers vs. Eunice Cardinals

The Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers will square off against the Eunice Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Mesilla Valley Christian School is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Mescalero Apache just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 53-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chiefs. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since February 13, 2020, but that streak is no more.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Katey Black, who posted 16 points and three steals. Nevaeh Benjamin was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten boards.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Eunice's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a hard 50-32 fall against Tatum. The Cardinals were down 44-22 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Eunice's defeat dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Mesilla Valley Christian School, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 19-4.
