Basketball Recap: Aidan Schmidl's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Preston over Spring Valley

The Preston Knights came up short against the Spring Valley Timberwolves on Friday, falling 78-57.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aidan Schmidl, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Easton Hayes, who scored 13 points.

Spring Valley was led to victory by Harrison Riggs and Clay Robertson. Riggs went 16 of 20 on his way to 35 points and seven rebounds, while Robertson dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 boards. The contest was Riggs' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalyn Abercrombie, who had eight points and 12 rebounds.

Preston's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Spring Valley, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Preston didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-50 win against St. Albans on the 28th. Spring Valley and Ironton will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Spring Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
