Soccer Game Preview: Meridian vs. Osbourn

The Meridian Mustangs will square off against the Osbourn Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Meridian's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Osbourn has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Meridian's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Brentsville District 1-0. The victory was all the more spectacular given Meridian's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Brentsville District are ranked 37th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Osbourn). Everything went their way against Unity Reed on Thursday as they made off with a 7-1 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Osbourn as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Osbourn's win bumped their record up to 5-8-1. As for Meridian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6-1.
