Softball Recap: South Summit Wildcats vs. American Leadership Academy Eagles
South Summit had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the American Leadership Academy Eagles 23-1. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 5-2 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2019.

Toshlyn Louder and Mariah Bowen made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Louder tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Bowen tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Louder went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Bowen fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those seven RBI gave Bowen a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brinley Stapleton was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Emma Broadbent was another key player, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3.
South Summit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as American Leadership Academy only posted an OBP of .385.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Summit will welcome Duchesne at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for American Leadership Academy, they will be playing at home against Juab at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
