Basketball Recap: Coronado Beats Montwood for Their Fourth Straight Win

Montwood came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against Coronado, but Jazhiel Herrera wouldn't allow it. The Coronado Thunderbirds snuck past the Montwood Rams with a 35-30 victory on Friday thanks in part to Herrera, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points. Those 12 points gave him a new career-high.

The win was the fourth in a row for Coronado, bringing their record for this year to 12-4. As for Montwood, they moved to 17-4 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Coronado will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Eastwood at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Montwood also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Da Vinci at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
