Murphy won the last time they faced Hayesville and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bulldogs' defense stepped up to hand the Yellowjackets an 8-0 shutout. Considering Murphy have won nine contests by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Hayesville from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Halie Hill led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Murphy pushed their record up to 9-4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five matches. As for Hayesville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 1-8-1 record this season.

Murphy will head out to challenge Swain County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hayesville, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-0 win against Blue Ridge Early College on the 28th.
