Basketball Game Preview: Halstead Dragons vs. Abilene Cowboys

After both having extra time off, the Halstead Dragons and the Abilene Cowboys will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Halstead has six straight wins, Abilene has 26 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Two weeks ago, the stars were shining brightly for Halstead in a 50-32 victory over Smoky Valley.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 68-23, which was the final score in Abilene's tilt against Wamego back in December of 2024. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Red Raiders are ranked 62nd).

Abilene's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Halstead, their win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0.
