Softball Game Preview: Telstar Rebels vs. Vinalhaven Vikings

The Telstar Rebels will face off against the Vinalhaven Vikings at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Gray-New Gloucester hit Telstar with a five-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rebels fell 15-10 to the Patriots. Even though they lost, the Rebels' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Quinn Coolidge was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadie Campbell, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Vinalhaven came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Wolverines get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Telstar's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Vinalhaven, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
