Volleyball Recap: Spruce Creek Comes Up Short

If Spruce Creek was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Atlantic last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks fell just short of the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on April 1st.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Spruce Creek sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 20-25, 25-17, 17-25, 15-5.

Among those leading the charge was Tanveen Hossain, who had 17 digs. Those 17 digs gave him a new career-high.

Spruce Creek has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for St. Augustine, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-9.

Looking ahead, Spruce Creek will face off against West Port at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Augustine does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
