Baseball Recap: Whitmore Lake's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy, Whitmore Lake was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Lutheran Warriors by a score of 6-1. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

James Burns made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Whitmore Lake is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-10 otherwise. Burns was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cooper Abla was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Jayden Canter was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Whitmore Lake's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for Lutheran, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

Coming up, Whitmore Lake will take on Shrine Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lutheran will be paying especially close attention to the Trojans' matchup: after the Trojans face off against the Knights, they'll take on Lutheran again at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
