Baseball Recap: Louisburg Comes Up Short

Louisburg extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-7 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Granville Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 4-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Louisburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Lucas Anselmo, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for South Granville, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games.

On South Granville's side, Cooper Wilkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

While Louisburg had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
