Softball Recap: Royal Drops Season-High Score on St. Bonaventure

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Royal). They put the hurt on the St. Bonaventure Seraphs with a sharp 11-1 victory on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Highlanders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Julianna Galbraith spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Marilyn Augusta was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Reese Dugar also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Augusta wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Royal lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. Royal is a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more home runs.

The win made it two in a row for Royal and bumps their season record up to 7-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for St. Bonaventure, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Royal will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Simi Valley at 6:00 p.m. on April 4. As for St. Bonaventure, they will take on Santa Clara at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Clara will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something St. Bonaventure surely won't give up without a fight.
