Baseball Game Preview: Willow Lions vs. Riverdale Rebels

Willow and Riverdale are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Lions will face off against the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Riverdale took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Willow, who comes in off a win.

Willow is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Plaquemine on Saturday as they made off with a 17-5 victory. Considering the Lions' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Carter Ptak was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Willow always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Riverdale unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 15-3 to Mandeville. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rebels have suffered since March 11th.

Willow now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Riverdale, their loss dropped their record down to 15-13.

Willow might still be hurting after the 13-6 defeat they got from Riverdale in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
