Softball Recap: Mendota Triumphs

Mendota came into Wednesday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the West Carroll Thunder 9-7.

Laurali Thompson was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Doyle, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Mendota's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for West Carroll, they dropped their record down to 2-15 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mendota will face off against Kewanee at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for West Carroll, they will challenge Warren/Stockton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warhawks have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
