Basketball Game Preview: Spruce Creek Hawks vs. Lake Mary Rams

Spruce Creek took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They claimed a resounding 71-31 win over Calvary Christian Academy. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Lions are ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lake Mary's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 47-38 to Central Florida Christian Academy.

Spruce Creek's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-13. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Lake Mary, their loss dropped their record down to 17-8.

Spruce Creek came up short against Lake Mary when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 42-37. Can Spruce Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
